New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the opposition, particularly the Congress, in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. In his address, PM Modi provided a series of responses to the allegations and slogans hurled by Congress leaders. He said that slogans like "Modi, your grave will be dug" are not a symbol of political criticism, but rather a symbol of deep hatred and frustration.
The Prime Minister said that while the country is laying the foundation for a "developed India," the Congress party is busy digging Modi's grave. He sarcastically said that those who talk about opening a "shop of love" are the same ones who are shouting slogans about digging the grave of a citizen of the country. PM Modi questioned whether this is love and whether it is not an insult to the spirit of the Constitution.
"I receive two kilos of abuses every day,"
PM Modi said, adding that in the past 25 years, there has hardly been a session of Parliament in which he hasn't faced abuse. Referring to an old interview, he said that when asked about the secret of his health, he had replied, "I receive two kilos of abuses every day." The comment erupted in laughter in the House.
The Prime Minister also listed the reasons for the hatred.
He said that calls for "digging Modi's grave" are being made because his government has taken big and bold decisions. He mentioned steps such as the abrogation of Article 370, establishing peace in the Northeast, taking strict action against terrorism, responding to cross-border terrorists, and controlling Maoist violence. PM Modi said that these decisions are making some people uncomfortable, which is why slogans are being raised.
The Prime Minister said that the Congress party 's real problem
is that it cannot accept how Modi reached this position and how he has stayed there. He said that the Congress party believes that the post of Prime Minister is a family fiefdom, which no one else can occupy. This thinking is reflected in such language and slogans.
Questioning "Garibi Hatao,"
PM Modi accused the Congress party of misleading the nation for decades with slogans. He said that while "Garibi Hatao" slogans were given, concrete action was not taken to eradicate poverty. In contrast, his government worked to empower the poor, resulting in more than 250 million people being lifted above the poverty line.
Referring to development work,
the Prime Minister said that before 2014, thousands of villages in the country lacked electricity. Hundreds of lives were lost every year at unmanned railway crossings. He said that his government closed all unmanned railway crossings, saving millions of lives. PM Modi said that when such changes occur in the country, some people think not of development but of "Modi's grave."
