PM Modi–China foreign minister talks: Border issue, global trade war discussed

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is on a visit to India, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. During this, Wang handed over President Xi Jinping's message and invitation to PM Modi for the SCO summit to be held in Tianjin, China. The Prime Minister's Office said that the Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and harmony on the border and reiterated India's commitment to a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution to the border dispute.
Many issues were discussed including improving bilateral relations between the two countries and maintaining peace on the border. Earlier on Monday, Wang Yi met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. After the meeting with Wang Yi, Ajit Doval said that the meeting between PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, Russia in October last year was very successful. After this meeting, both the countries were successful in setting a new trend. After this meeting, the relations between the two countries got strengthened a lot. A new atmosphere has been created between the two countries.
After the meeting, PM Modi said in Xpost, "I am happy to meet Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Since my meeting with President Xi Jinping in Kazan last year, India-China relations have been steadily moving forward on the basis of respect for mutual interests and sensitivities. I look forward to our next meeting in Tianjin during the SCO Summit. Stable, trusting and constructive relations between India and China will significantly contribute to not only regional but also global peace and prosperity."
