Poonch (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan's nefarious act of drones has once again been seen on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Late on Sunday night, at least six Pakistani drones were seen hovering simultaneously in many forward areas of Mendhar sector, after which there was a stir among the security forces. The army and police immediately cordoned off the area and started a big search operation this morning.

According to army officials, this drone activity was seen over Balakot, Langote and Gursai Nala in Mendhar sector at around 9:15 pm on Sunday night. These drones were flying at a very high altitude and returned to Pakistan after staying in the Indian border for about five minutes. Initially, it is feared that these drones were sent for surveillance purposes.

Soon after the drone returned, joint teams of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the entire area. As soon as this morning, an intensive search operation is being carried out at all the possible places where the drones had passed. The security forces want to ensure that no weapons, ammunition or narcotics have been dropped from across the border through these drones.

It is worth noting that in the last few years, the use of drones by Pakistan for smuggling weapons and drugs has become a big challenge for the security agencies. To deal with this problem, last year the police had also announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh to the person giving accurate information about drones.
