Warangal (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident has emerged from Warangal in Telangana, where a pregnant woman and her two young daughters died under suspicious circumstances after drowning in their own swimming pool. The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old Farhat and her daughters, 8-year-old Umera and 6-year-old Ayesha.
The family operated a swimming pool near the Warangal-Khammam national highway, which was rented out to tourists and served as their primary source of income. On Wednesday night, the three reportedly drowned in the same pool in the presence of other family members. Initially, the incident was considered an accident, but it has now taken a disturbing turn.
Father alleges murder conspiracy
After the incident, Farhat’s husband, Azharuddin, told the police that it was an accident and claimed that his wife and daughters slipped into the pool and drowned. However, the victim’s father, Ali, has rejected this version and filed a complaint alleging foul play.
According to him, Azharuddin did not want another daughter and had been pressuring Farhat to undergo an abortion. He stated that the couple had frequent arguments over this issue in recent days. He also claimed that his daughter was under severe mental stress and expressed suspicion that this was not an accident but a planned act.
CCTV footage and postmortem to reveal truth
Following the complaint, police have launched a detailed investigation from all possible angles. Officials inspected the site and seized CCTV footage installed near the swimming pool to determine what exactly happened.
The bodies have been sent to MGM Hospital for postmortem examination. Sub-Inspector Srinivas said that a case has been registered based on the father’s complaint and Azharuddin is being questioned.
Police have not ruled out any possibility, including a conspiracy, and are awaiting postmortem and forensic reports for further clarity. After the incident, an atmosphere of grief and tension prevails in Punnelu village, and additional police force has been deployed as a precaution.
