Raid at ‘Kashmir Times’ office in Jammu; cartridges, grenade pins recovered

Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu) – The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday raided the office of the Kashmir Times in Jammu and seized incriminating material based on allegations that the newspaper was involved in anti-national activities and inciting disaffection against India.
During the raid, the SIA seized AK rifle cartridges, some pistol rounds, and hand grenade pins, among other items. According to official sources, the SIA has filed an FIR against the newspaper's editor, Anuradha Bhasin, in connection with the raid. The investigation is focused on her alleged involvement in activities deemed a threat to India's sovereignty.
Sources said the SIA team arrived at the office on Residency Road in the morning and conducted a search for several hours. The team thoroughly examined documents and digital devices. The SIA has filed an FIR against the newspaper under FIR No. 02/2025 under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Kashmir Times has been a long-standing and respected English daily in the state. After the death of founder Ved Bhasin, the newspaper was run by his daughter Anuradha Bhasin and son-in-law Pramod Jamwal. However, regular publication of the newspaper has ceased for the past several years. According to sources, Anuradha Bhasin and Pramod Jamwal are currently living abroad, due to which the office on Residency Road has also been closed. The SIA says that the material recovered during the search and detailed information related to the action taken will be made public after the process is completed.
