Ramdevra-bound pilgrims meet with fatal crash; 6 killed, 14 injured

Jodhpur (The Uttam Hindu): A horrific road accident took place near Balesar in the district early Sunday morning, in which 6 people lost their lives and 14 others were injured. According to Balesar police station officer Mool Singh Bhati, a trailer loaded with grain sacks and a tempo full of devotees going from Gujarat to Ramdevra collided head-on near Khari Beri village at around 5 am. Immediately after the accident, 3 women died on the spot, whose bodies have been kept safe in Balesar hospital. After initial treatment, the other injured were referred to Mathuradas Mathur hospital, where three more persons died on arrival.
Tragic accident: Trailer-tempo collision kills 6 pilgrims on their way to Ramdevra, injures 14 : A total of 20 devotees were travelling in the tempo, who were on their way to Ramdevra from Banaskantha and Dhansura areas of Gujarat. 3-year-old Navya, 40-year-old Bhupat Singh and 60-year-old Kashiya Bai died while being taken to MDM Hospital. The three women who died on the spot have not been identified yet.
Of the 17 injured transported to MDM from Balesar, three died, leaving 14 injured persons undergoing treatment at Mathuradas Mathur Hospital. Hospital Superintendent Dr. Vikas Rajpurohit stated that the condition of some of the injured remains critical. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the hospital mortuary.
