New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Delhi Police have intensified the investigation into the car bombing near the Red Fort. CCTV footage has revealed important information, which is helping to trace the movements of the suspicious vehicle.

According to police sources, CCTV footage shows that a white i20 car arrived at the Red Fort parking lot around 3:19 pm. It remained parked there for about three hours and left the parking lot around 6:48 pm. The area was quite crowded at the time.

The police are now trying to determine who parked the car there, who was inside, and who later drove it away. The investigation team is also investigating where the car came from, how it reached the Red Fort, and what route it took.

Police have begun scanning over 100 CCTV footage, including footage from surrounding roads and parking toll plazas. Investigators are also tracing the vehicle's entire route, including where it came from, how it reached the Red Fort parking lot, and later how it approached the traffic signal located directly opposite the monument. "The suspect is seen alone in the footage. The route leading to Daryaganj is also being examined," Delhi Police sources said.

The employee on duty at the parking lot will also be questioned. A case has been registered under sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Explosive Substances Act, and several sections of the Indian Penal Code. Gates 1 and 4 of the Red Fort Metro station have been temporarily closed for security reasons.

Delhi Police says that every aspect related to the incident is being investigated thoroughly and efforts are on to connect the links of the events that preceded the blast.
