New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- The Meteorological Department (IMD) has once again given important information on the South West Monsoon across the country. The Indian Meteorological Department said that this time the monsoon has knocked in Kerala on 24 May, 8 days before its scheduled time of 2025. With this, this time the monsoon has also broken the record of the last 16 years. Earlier in 2009, the monsoon arrived before its scheduled time on 23 May. According to the Meteorological Department Monsoon Update, the monsoon is also increasing rapidly in most parts of the country.

IMD's updated monsoon forecast 2025 suggests that this time India may receive more rainfall than normal, which is a matter of great relief especially for farmers. In fact, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has revised its monsoon forecast for the period from June to September. A lot of changes are being seen in this forecast.

In its latest forecast, the Meteorological Department has said that this year the country may receive an average of 106 percent rainfall. However, there can be a difference of 4 percent above or below it. Earlier, 105 percent rainfall was expected, which means that this time 1 percent more rainfall is expected. This means that this year the monsoon falls in the 'above normal' category, because when the rainfall is more than 104 percent, it is considered above normal. At the same time, there is a possibility of 87 CM rainfall in the entire country, whose error percentage is +-4 percent.

According to the Meteorological Department, every year the monsoon first knocks in the southern state of Kerala and gradually spreads across the country. Usually by July 8, it covers most of India. After this, the monsoon starts retreating from North-West India around September 17 and completely departs from the people by October 15. If we look at the data of the last few years, the monsoon reached Kerala on May 30 in 2024, June 8 in 2023, May 29 in 2022 and June 3 in 2021. That is, there is a slight change in the start date every year.
