Speeding Fortuner crashes into divider, five killed including woman Gujarat cop

Bathinda (The Uttam Hindu): Five youths, including Amita, a woman police officer of Gujarat Police, died on the spot in a horrific road accident in Bathinda district on Saturday. The accident occurred when all of them were travelling from Bathinda to Gujarat in a Fortuner car. According to information, Amita, a woman police officer posted in Gujarat Police, was travelling in a Fortuner with her four friends - Ankush, Bharat, Chetan and Satish. As soon as their vehicle reached the main highway near village Gurthdi, due to high speed, the car went out of control and hit the divider.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the Fortuner was completely destroyed, killing all five people on board. Police arrived at the scene and controlled traffic. City Superintendent of Police Narinder Singh confirmed the accident, stating that all five people on board were killed. The bodies are being taken to Bathinda Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. He added that the families of the deceased have been informed, and further legal action will be taken after their arrival.
Preliminary investigations indicate the cause of the accident was speeding, though police are investigating all aspects of the incident. The tragic accident has brought an atmosphere of mourning to the area. According to eyewitnesses, the sound of the collision was so loud that nearby residents were startled and rushed to help, but it was too late.
