Massive Rockfall on Scorpio in Reasi, SDM Ramnagar and Son Killed

Reasi (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic accident occurred in Jammu division’s Reasi district on Friday evening, claiming the lives of Ramnagar SDM Rajendra Singh and his six-year-old son Aarav. The incident took place when a massive rock and debris fell from a hillside directly onto their Scorpio vehicle.

According to reports, SDM Rajendra Singh was travelling with his family to his native village Pattiyan. There were seven people in the car, including his wife Nishu, cousin Surjeet Singh (son of Shankar Singh), sister-in-law, her daughter, and the driver. The sudden rockfall crushed the vehicle, killing Rajendra Singh and his young son on the spot. The remaining five occupants—SDM's wife, cousin, sister-in-law, her daughter, and the driver—were injured and immediately rushed to Reasi District Hospital for treatment.

Local residents and police arrived swiftly at the scene to carry out relief and rescue operations. The force of the falling boulder left the vehicle completely damaged. Family members revealed that the SDM had recently lost a sister-in-law, and the family was planning to visit her bereaved household in Matlot the next day. On Friday, they were en route to their hometown when the fatal incident occurred. The tragedy has cast a pall of gloom over the entire region.
