RSS leader’s killer shot dead in encounter; police officer also injured

Ferozepur (The Uttam Hindu) - Badal Mehmood, the main accused in the murder case of RSS leader Naveen Arora, a resident of Ferozepur, was killed in an encounter with the police near the Joya toll plaza. DIG Ferozepur Range Harmanbir Singh Gill and SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh Sidhu reached the spot and took stock of the situation. There are reports that a police officer was also shot. The police team had taken Badal to the spot to recover weapons, where his hidden associates suddenly opened fire on the police, and the police also retaliated in self-defense, in which Badal was killed.

Two of the accused's associates escaped. Naveen Arora, son of RSS leader Baldev Raj Arora, was murdered in Ferozepur on November 15. He was shot by two motorcycle-borne assailants. The investigation into Arora's murder led to several arrests. Last week, police captured another key suspect, Gursimran Singh, after a separate encounter in Arifke village.
