SBK Singh Appointed Acting Delhi Police Commissioner, Gets Additional Charge from Home Ministry

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- Senior IPS officer SBK Singh has been given the additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner. According to an official order issued by the Home Ministry, SBK Singh, a 1988 batch AGMUT cadre officer, will take over as Delhi Police Commissioner from August 1, 2025.


The Union Home Ministry on Thursday approved a new appointment to the post of Delhi Police Commissioner. According to the order issued by the ministry, SBK Singh, currently serving as the Director General of Delhi Home Guards, is given additional charge of the post of Delhi Police Commissioner from August 1, 2025 till further orders. He will remain in this post till further orders. This appointment has been made after the approval of the competent authority. The order further stated that its copy has been sent to the concerned officials including the Chief Secretary of Delhi, Delhi Police Commissioner, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor. The Home Ministry has also directed to upload this order on its website.


According to the information, SBK Singh is currently serving as the Director General of Delhi Home Guards and is known for his extensive policing and internal security experience. This appointment has been made as part of the administrative reshuffle after the tenure of the current Commissioner Sanjay Arora ends. SBK Singh has been given the additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner till further orders. Let us tell you that Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora is retiring on 31 July. Sanjay Arora, a 1988 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Tamil Nadu cadre, took over as Delhi Commissioner on August 1, 2022, replacing Rakesh Asthana.
