School Building Collapses in Jhalawar, 5 Children Dead; Over 30 Injured

Jhalawar (The Uttam Hindu): A very sad news came from Jhalawar, Rajasthan this morning. Where 5 children died due to the collapse of a government school building. More than 30 children are seriously injured in the accident. The accident happened in the morning at Piplodi Government School of Manoharthana Block. There was chaos all around after the building collapsed.

Dr. Kaushal Lodha of Manoharthana Hospital said that 35 injured children were brought in. Out of these, 11 seriously injured have been referred to the district hospital.


As soon as the information was received, police and administrative officials reached the spot. The work of removing the debris is being done rapidly with the help of JCB machine. Relief and rescue work is going on and the condition of many children is said to be critical. The administration has given instructions to provide better treatment to the injured students, while questions are being raised on the dilapidated condition of the school building.


Villagers said that the school building was very old and complaints of water leakage during rains had been made earlier as well. Currently, orders have been given to investigate the incident. This accident is once again raising serious questions on the dilapidated condition of government schools. Such accidents have happened earlier in the state as well.
