Beijing(The Uttam Hindu): In a significant diplomatic development amid shifting global power dynamics, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a trilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin in China today. The meeting comes at a time when relations between the three countries and the United States remain strained on both trade and strategic fronts.

The high-profile gathering drew international attention, with analysts interpreting it as a signal of strengthening ties between India, China, and Russia in the face of increasing U.S. pressure. In recent months, the U.S. has imposed higher tariffs on several products from all three countries, escalating concerns over a growing trade war.

While the leaders met, the U.S. Embassy in India shared a post on social media platform X, which many have seen as an attempt to reaffirm and reinforce the U.S.-India relationship. The post read, “The partnership between the United States and India continues to reach new heights — a defining relationship of the 21st century. This month, we’re spotlighting the people, progress, and possibilities driving us forward.”

The post included a quote from U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, stating, “The deep friendship between the people of India and the United States forms the foundation of our ties. It continues to inspire us as we unlock the full potential of our economic relationship.”

Strategic experts suggest that the Modi-Putin-Xi meeting could be viewed as a counterbalance to Western influence and a message of multipolar collaboration. At the same time, Washington’s outreach reflects a desire to keep India closely aligned, especially given its growing global influence.

As global alliances continue to evolve, today’s meeting marks a pivotal moment in Asia-led diplomacy, signaling a potential shift in future geopolitical strategies.
