Security forces eliminate 3 maoists in Jharkhand; Top commander among them

Ranchi/Hazaribagh (The Uttam Hindu): Security forces have achieved a major success in the anti-Naxal operation in Jharkhand. Three Naxalites including Maoist Sahdev Soren, who had a reward of Rs 1 crore on his head were killed in an encounter on Monday morning in the Panatitri forest in Girhor police station area of Hazaribagh. This area is adjacent to the border of Bokaro and Giridih districts.
Security forces killed 3 Maoists in Jharkhand, one of them had a bounty of Rs 1 crore on his head: According to the information, the joint team of Cobra Battalion, Giridih and Hazaribagh Police had received information that Sahdev Soren was plotting a major Naxalite incident. On this basis, an operation was carried out in the forest. The Maoists started firing on the security forces after which three Naxalites were killed in retaliation.
Among the killed Naxalites, Sahdev Soren alias Anuj alias Pravesh alias Amlesh has been identified. He was a resident of Manderi village of Vishnugarh police station area of Hazaribagh district and was a member of the central committee of the Maoist organization. The Jharkhand government had announced a reward of Rs 1 crore on him.
The second Maoist has been identified as Raghunath Hembram alias Nirbhay alias Chanchal alias Birsen. He was a member of the Special Area Committee (SAC) and a reward of Rs 25 lakh was announced on him. He was a resident of Jaridih in Dumri police station area of Giridih. The third Maoist is being identified.
Security forces have recovered three AK-47 automatic weapons from the spot. Police headquarters has described this encounter as a major achievement in the campaign to eradicate Naxalism. At present, an intensive search operation is going on in the area.
This is the second major success in the last 6 months when the security forces have killed a Maoist carrying a bounty of Rs 1 crore. Earlier on April 21, eight Maoists including Vivek alias Prayag Manjhi were killed in an encounter at the foot of Luguburu hill in Lalpania of Bokaro district.
After the killing of Sahdev Soren, the number of Maoists carrying a bounty of Rs 1 crore in Jharkhand has now come down to three. These include Misir Besra alias Bhaskar, Asim Mandal alias Akash and Anal alias Toofan alias Patiram Manjhi.
