Senior BJP leader and former minister Hem Singh Bhadana passes away, breathes his last in Alwar

Alwar (The Uttam Hindu): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader, two-time MLA, and former Cabinet minister in the Vasundhara Raje government, Hem Singh Bhadana, passed away on Monday morning at around 7:30 am at his residence in Alwar. He was 60. His demise has triggered a wave of grief across Alwar and the Khairthal–Tijara region.

Bhadana had been battling cancer for a long time and had also suffered a brain haemorrhage a few days ago, after which he remained hospitalised in Gurugram for an extended period. On Monday morning around 6:30 am, his condition suddenly worsened, following which family members rushed him in critical condition to a hospital near Telco Circle in Alwar. Doctors examined him and declared him brought dead.

Hospital director Dr Harish Gupta said that Bhadana had already passed away by the time he was brought to the emergency ward. He is survived by his family, including two sons and two daughters. He resided in Veer Savarkar Nagar near Khatu Shyam Temple in Alwar city. His last rites will be performed at his native village Bhageri Kala in the Kishangarh Bas Assembly constituency, which now falls under Khairthal–Tijara district. Following his death, all BJP programmes scheduled for the day in Alwar and Khairthal have been cancelled.

Hem Singh Bhadana was born on 7 February 1966. He completed his LLB from Rajasthan University and remained actively involved in student politics from an early age. From 1991 to 1992, he served as the Students’ Union President of Government Arts and Law College, Alwar. On 10 February 2005, he became the Pradhan of Panchayat Samiti Kishangarh Bas.

In state politics, he represented the Thanagazi Assembly constituency and served as a member of the 13th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly (2008–2013) and the 14th Assembly (2013–2018). He was widely known for his outspoken style and straightforward approach.

As a minister, his tenure was considered active and impactful. On 28 October 2014, he was appointed Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Food and Civil Supplies and was later given additional charge of Consumer Affairs. In the 2016 cabinet reshuffle, he was assigned the portfolios of Printing and Stationery, State Motor Garage, and Estate Department, along with additional responsibility of the General Administration Department.
