Indore (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore has left the area shaken after a massive fire broke out in a residential house in Brijeshwari Annex Colony, claiming the lives of seven people. Three others were rescued safely.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Kundan Mandloi, the fire broke out between 3:30 am and 4:30 am. Rescue teams rushed to the spot after receiving information and managed to bring the blaze under control. All bodies have been recovered, and the rescue operation has been completed.

District Collector Shivam Verma said that after extinguishing the fire, the first and second floors of the house were completely evacuated, while the third floor is being inspected to ensure no one remains trapped inside.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire was caused by a spark or explosion during the charging of an electric vehicle. Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh said that an electric vehicle was being charged outside the house when a spark or blast occurred at the charging point, leading to the rapid spread of fire.

The situation worsened as more than 10 gas cylinders stored inside the house caught fire, with some reportedly exploding. Additionally, flammable chemicals present in the house intensified the blaze. The house is said to belong to Manoj Pugalia, who is associated with the polymer business.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
