New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has strongly attacked both Pakistan and China for supporting terrorists in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). He is part of an all-party diplomatic delegation which is on an international tour these days.

Questioning China's role in protecting the Lashkar-e-Taiba-backed 'front' at the UN, Tharoor said, "We have been sending reports about RF (Registered Front) to the UN Sanctions Committee from time to time. Even when India asked the Security Council to mention this front in the press statement, we shared all the necessary information."

Targeting China, he said, “I am saddened that the Pakistan government got the name of this organization removed with the help of its 'friend' in China, due to which there was no mention of it. Neither we are in the council nor you. Pakistan succeeds in saving the terrorists every time with the help of China. This situation should change. We should be together in the Security Council.”

Tharoor made this remark during a discussion with former Brazilian Foreign Minister and Ambassador Celso Amorim. During this, he also discussed in detail the challenges India faces in the fight against terrorism due to geopolitical alliances within the United Nations Security Council.

Tharoor's delegation will go to America tomorrow

The delegation led by Tharoor is currently in Brazil and will leave for America tomorrow. Charge d'Affaires of the Indian Embassy Sandeep Kumar Kujur welcomed the delegation at Brasilia airport.
