New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A shameful video showing how some passengers misuse the amenities provided in the AC coaches of Indian trains is going viral on social media. The video allegedly shows a family travelling in the first AC coach of the Purushottam Express from Puri to Delhi stealing railway sheets, blankets and towels and stuffing them into their bags.

According to the viral video, the incident came to light when the Railway Inspector (TTE) and railway staff became suspicious of the family. When they asked to check the family's bag, they found several sets of railway linen. In the video, a railway attendant is heard telling the family in Odia, "Sir, look, all the sheets and blankets are coming out of the bag. There are four sets of towels and sheets in total. Either return them or pay Rs 780."

The family initially disputed the allegations, but when the stolen items began to fall out of the bag in front of the camera, they feigned guilt. One family member claimed that his mother had mistakenly packed them. However, the railway staff didn't seem convinced and took back all the items.

The video has sparked outrage on social media. Users are strongly condemning the actions of passengers traveling in expensive First AC classes. One user wrote, "How low can people stoop? These public resources are for comfort, not personal plunder." Another commented, "Traveling in First AC is a privilege, but stealing sheets shows a lack of respect and honesty." Many have also demanded that the Railways impose heavy fines on such passengers and ban them from future train travel.
