Sonbhadra mine collapse: 2 killed, 15 feared trapped in Uttar Pradesh

Sonbhadra (The Uttam Hindu): Rescue operations are underway following the landslide in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. Several people are feared trapped under the debris. Police and administrative officials are assisting with the rescue and relief efforts.
Varanasi ADG Zone stated on the social media platform "X" that ADG Piyush Mordia immediately took cognizance of the incident and personally visited the site to inspect it. He gathered information from the officers and staff present on the scene regarding the incident. The ADG then provided necessary guidance to the officers regarding the relief and rescue operation.
Police officials said the incident occurred in the Obra police station area of Sonbhadra district. Police received information that a hill had cracked and buried some people under rocks at the Krishna Mining Works mine in Raspahari, near Billi Markundi Mining. Upon receiving the information, Obra police immediately arrived at the scene and carried out rescue operations.
The accident reportedly occurred late at night. Two people have died so far, while approximately 15 others are feared trapped. Following the information, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are on the scene, and rescue operations are underway.
District Magistrate BN Singh arrived at the scene at night after receiving information about the accident. He stated that efforts are underway to rescue the trapped victims. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have arrived from Mirzapur.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Social Welfare and local MLA Sanjeev Kumar Gond visited the site. Speaking about the relief and rescue operations, he said every effort was being made to rescue those trapped under the debris.
