Sunday Fast for Wealth & Health: Correct Way to Worship the Sun God

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): On the Trayodashi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwin, falling on Sunday, a rare Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga is forming. On October 6, the Sun will be in Virgo while the Moon will remain in Aquarius till 12:45 midnight and will then transit into Pisces. According to the Drik Panchang, the Abhijit Muhurat on Sunday will begin at 11:46 AM and end at 12:33 PM, while Rahukaal will fall between 4:34 PM and 6:02 PM. Trayodashi Tithi will start on October 4 at 5:09 PM and last till October 5 at 3:03 PM, after which Chaturdashi will begin.
As per Agni and Skanda Puranas, observing a fast on Sunday brings happiness, prosperity, good health, and even liberation. The Sunday fast can be started on the first Sunday of the Shukla Paksha in any month. This vrat is especially fruitful for those whose horoscope shows a weak Sun. One should observe the fast for 12 Sundays and then perform Udyapan (concluding rituals).
To begin the fast, wake up in the Brahma Muhurat, take a bath, clean the temple or place of worship, place a cloth on a sacred platform, arrange the puja items, listen to the vrat katha, and then offer Arghya (water mixed with flowers, rice, and roli in a copper vessel) to the Sun God. Doing so brings immense benefits.
Additionally, reciting the Aditya Hriday Stotra or chanting mantras like “Om Suryaya Namah” or “Om Ghrini Suryaya Namah” on Sundays brings special blessings. Offering jaggery and copper donations on this day is also considered highly auspicious. These rituals help in attaining Sun God’s grace, prosperity, and success in life.
Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga in astrology is regarded as a highly auspicious combination formed by the union of certain nakshatras on specific days. It is believed that tasks performed under this yoga are successful and yield favorable outcomes.
