New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): All-out action has now been initiated against lawyer Rakesh Kishore, who attempted to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai. For this serious contempt, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has temporarily suspended his membership, barred him from entering the Supreme Court premises, and filed a criminal FIR against him in Bengaluru.

The Supreme Court Bar Association has unanimously passed a resolution terminating the temporary membership of lawyer Rakesh Kishore with immediate effect. The resolution states that his name will be removed from the association's rolls and any card issued in his name will be cancelled and confiscated. The SCBA has also decided to notify the Secretary General of the Supreme Court so that Kishore's access card can be immediately cancelled and he can be permanently barred from entering the court premises.

Additionally, Bengaluru police have filed an FIR against lawyer Rakesh Kishore based on a complaint from Bhaktavachala, president of the All India Advocates' Association. The FIR has been filed under sections 132 (assault to deter a public servant from discharging his duty) and 133 (assault with intent to insult) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), further tightening the legal screws on him.

It is noteworthy that on the day of the incident, CJI B.R. Gavai himself had shown leniency and asked for the lawyer's release, and the Delhi Police also let him go after questioning. But now, legal and disciplinary action has been intensified in this case of assault on the dignity of the judiciary.
