Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): After the plane crash in Ahmedabad, Air India flights are facing continuous technical problems. On Tuesday, an Air India flight coming from San Francisco to Mumbai was evacuated in Kolkata. An Air India flight from San Francisco to Mumbai via Kolkata suffered a technical fault in the engine, due to which passengers had to be deboarded during its scheduled stopover at the city airport on Tuesday.

According to the information, after take off at Kolkata airport, it was found that there was a problem in one of the engines. Flight AI180 arrived at Kolkata airport at around 12.45 am, but the flight was delayed due to a technical fault in the left engine. At around 5.20 am, an announcement was made in the plane, asking all the passengers to disembark. The pilot of the flight told the passengers that this decision was being taken in the interest of flight safety.

Earlier on Monday, Air India's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner developed a technical snag due to which flight AI 315 had to return to Hong Kong mid-way soon after taking off for Delhi on Monday.

The airline said in a statement, "Flight AI 315 has landed safely and all passengers are being assisted." An Air India spokesperson said, "The aircraft was turned back as a precaution after the pilot identified a possible problem during the flight. The aircraft landed safely in Hong Kong and is being inspected as a precautionary measure."

On June 12, an Air India flight crashed in Ahmedabad, killing 241 out of 242 people on board. A few minutes after taking off from Ahmedabad airport, the plane collided with a hospital hostel and caught fire. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also on that flight. He also died in the accident.
