Tempo Traveler Falls into Alaknanda River — 1 Dead, Dozens Missing

Rudraprayag (The Uttam Hindu): A horrific road accident took place at Gholthir on Rudraprayag-Badrinath Highway in Uttarakhand. According to the information, a tempo traveler full of passengers fell into the Alaknanda river. Police force and SDRF teams from police station Agastyamuni, Ratuda and Gochar were immediately dispatched to the spot. According to the information, the vehicle was going upstream from Rudraprayag, which went out of control and fell into the river. Rescue teams started immediate relief and rescue work and some injured were safely evacuated and sent to the hospital for treatment. One body has been recovered during the rescue, while the search for other persons is going on.

Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey told, "One person has died and 7 people have been injured due to an 18-seater Tempo Traveller falling into the Alaknanda river at Gholthir in Rudraprayag district. Teams of SDRF, police and administration are present on the spot for the rescue operation."
