Violence erupts in Mathura on Eid after killing of cow protector; protests, highway blockade, and vandalism of police vehicles reported.

Braj (The Uttam Hindu): A tense situation prevailed in Mathura on the occasion of Eid after the alleged killing of a cow protector sparked outrage in the region. The incident occurred in Navipur village under Kotvan outpost of Kosi Kalan police station area.
Alleged killing triggers anger
According to reports, well-known cow protector Chandrashekhar, also known as ‘Farsa Wale Baba’, was allegedly run over by suspected cattle smugglers late at night. He had reportedly received information about their movement and was पीछा कर रहा था with his team when the accused vehicle hit him, leading to his death on the spot.
Police have tightened security in the area, with barricading and checking intensified on routes leading towards Barsana to nab the accused.
Large gathering and rising protest
After the incident, the body was brought to his village Anjanokh, where a large number of villagers and supporters gathered. Known for his fearless stance on cow protection, his death led to strong reactions among local groups.
As the crowd swelled, protests intensified. Angry demonstrators blocked the Agra–Delhi highway and began stone pelting, creating panic among commuters and causing chaos in the area.
Police vehicles targeted
To control the situation, police had to resort to tear gas. During the unrest, vehicles of several officials, including SP City Rajeev Kumar Singh, SP Rural Suresh Chandra Rawat, and ADM Administration Amresh Kumar, were vandalised. Windows and windshields of official vehicles were damaged in the violence.
At present, tension continues in the area, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation while efforts are underway to restore normalcy.
