Top Leaders Cast Votes in Vice Presidential Election: Sonia, Rahul, Rajnath and Deve Gowda Lead the Way

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : Voting for the Vice Presidential election is underway. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress MPs Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Parliament House and cast their votes. Apart from this, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also voted in the Vice Presidential election.

The voting process for the post of Vice President is going on in the Parliament House since 10 am. All the MPs and ministers of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are participating in this election and exercising their franchise. Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, former Prime Minister HD Devegowda, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut and Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi reached the Parliament House and cast their votes. Amidst the ongoing voting for the Vice President election, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy held a meeting with the Congress MPs of Telangana, in which he gave instructions regarding voting in the Vice President election.

Earlier, 'India Alliance' candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy had expressed confidence of his victory and dismissed speculations of cross voting. He said, "I am confident that we are going to win this election. I am only trying to awaken the conscience of the people. I did not say that there will be cross-voting. I do not know what cross-voting is." Apart from this, NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan said on the Vice Presidential election, "This is going to be a big victory of Indian nationalism. We all are one and will remain one. We want a 'developed India'. This victory will take us in that direction."

Voting for the Vice Presidential election will continue till 5 pm in the new Parliament building. After this, counting of votes will start at 6 pm and the results are expected by late evening. The contest for the post of Vice President of India is between NDA candidate and Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan and India Block candidate, former Supreme Court judge B Sudarshan Reddy.
