Tragic accident: High-speed car overturns, four youths killed on the spot

Vijayawada (The Uttam Hindu): Four young men were killed when a speeding car overturned in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district early Tuesday. Police said the accident occurred on the national highway near Gandigunta in Vuyyuru Mandal. The car overturned and fell onto a service road. Fortunately, it did not collide with any other vehicle on the road.

Three people in the car died on the spot, while the fourth died in the hospital. Police arrived at the scene and began an investigation. Preliminary police investigations revealed that speeding caused the accident. The deceased were residents of Konduru village near Vijayawada. They were identified as Konatama Chintaiah (17), Chatragadda Rakesh Babu (24), Prince Babu (23), and Goriparthi Bapnaiah (24).

Meanwhile, passengers had a narrow escape when a private travel bus caught fire on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway early Tuesday. The bus, travelling from Hyderabad to Kandukur, suddenly caught fire near Pittampalli in Chityala mandal of Telangana's Nalgonda district.

The driver noticed smoke coming from the engine and immediately stopped the bus. He alerted the passengers, who got off the bus before the flames spread. The bus, owned by a private travel agency, was carrying 29 passengers. The vehicle was completely gutted before firefighters could reach the scene to douse the flames. Police arrived at the scene and began an investigation. Several road accidents involving buses have occurred in the Telugu states in the past three weeks.

Nineteen people were killed in a head-on collision between an RTC bus and a tipper truck in Telangana's Rangareddy district on November 3. A speeding truck carrying construction material collided with the bus, which was traveling from Tandur to Hyderabad. Many passengers were buried under gravel.

On October 24, 19 people were burnt to death when a private bus caught fire after crushing a motorcycle lying on the road following an accident near Kurnool town in Andhra Pradesh.
