Kurnool (The Uttam Hindu): 20 people have died after a bus caught fire in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district. The accident occurred on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru highway near Chinnatekur in Kallur Mandal. The bus was on its way from Bengaluru to Hyderabad when it suddenly burst into flames. Within a short time, the entire bus was reduced to ashes. According to initial reports, there were about 40 passengers on board. About 12 passengers managed to escape with minor injuries by breaking the emergency exit door, while 20 people were burnt in the fire and later died.


Following the incident, State Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy arrived at the scene. He expressed his deep condolences to the families of the deceased and said that the loss of so many lives was truly heartbreaking. The Transport Minister directed officials to transport the injured to Kurnool Hospital and ensure the best possible medical treatment. He also directed transport and rescue teams to immediately conduct relief and rescue operations at the accident site.


Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his condolences over the accident. He wrote in an X-post, "I am deeply shocked to learn about the horrific bus fire accident near Chinnatekur village in Kurnool district. My deepest condolences are with the families who lost their loved ones. Government officials will provide all possible assistance to the injured and affected families."


Former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed grief over the accident. He wrote, "The news of the tragic bus fire accident near Chinnattekur village in Kurnool district is extremely saddening. I express my deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. I urge the government to provide all necessary assistance and medical aid to the injured and those affected in this unfortunate incident."
