Tragic accident: massive fire breaks out late night at residential house, three members of same family burnt alive

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic fire incident in Mumbai’s Goregaon West claimed the lives of three members of a single family late at night. The massive fire broke out at a residential house in Bhagat Singh Nagar, where the victims were asleep at the time of the incident. Panic spread across the area as flames engulfed the house.
A Mumbai Fire Brigade official said the fire was brought under control, but the lives of three people could not be saved. Initial reports had confirmed the death of one man and one woman, however, a later official statement issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) confirmed that three people had died in the blaze.
According to the BMC, the fire occurred in a ground-plus-one-storey residential structure. The fire was mainly confined to electrical wiring and household items on the ground floor, while the clothes of three people present in a room on the first floor caught fire. The exact room number could not be confirmed. Before the fire brigade arrived, local residents attempted to douse the flames using buckets of water. After cutting off the power supply, fire personnel also used buckets of water to completely extinguish the fire.
The three victims were rescued by fire brigade personnel and rushed to a trauma care hospital. However, doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Hospital authorities said that the victims had already succumbed to burn injuries before reaching the hospital. The deceased were identified as Harshada Pawaskar (19), Kushal Pawaskar (12), and Sanjog Pawaskar (48). All three were members of the same family.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade confirmed that the fire has been completely extinguished. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation, though a short circuit is suspected as the preliminary cause.
