
Rishikesh (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic road accident occurred late Tuesday night on the Haridwar–Rishikesh road near the railway crossing close to Mansa Devi Temple in Uttarakhand, resulting in the death of four people. According to information, a speeding car rammed into a truck and got stuck underneath it, killing all four occupants on the spot.
Eyewitnesses said the car driver lost control while trying to save an animal that suddenly appeared on the road, leading to the collision with the truck. After receiving the information, the police reached the spot immediately. The car was completely mangled in the crash.
Using a crane, the police separated the car from the truck and cut open the damaged vehicle to retrieve the bodies. According to police, the car owner has been identified as Sonu Kumar, a resident of Chandreshwar Marg, Rishikesh. In the initial investigation, two of the deceased were identified as Dheeraj Jaiswal (30), a resident of Chandreshwar Nagar, and Hariom (22), a resident of Gumaniwala, Rishikesh. Efforts are underway to identify the remaining two victims.
Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
