Tragic road accident: Truck-car collision kills 6, 2 injured

Barabanki (The Uttam Hindu): Six people were killed and two seriously injured in a tragic road accident near Bishunpur town on the Deva-Fatehpur road in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, late Monday night. The deceased included three members of the same family. According to reports, the accident occurred when a speeding truck and an Ertiga car without a number plate collided head-on. The impact was so severe that the Ertiga was shattered into pieces, causing widespread panic in the surrounding area.
The deceased have been identified as driver Shrikant Shukla, Pradeep Soni, his wife Madhuri Soni and son Nitin. The identities of the two other deceased have not yet been established. The injured include Pradeep Soni's son, Naimish and an unidentified man. They were reportedly returning home after bathing in the Ganges in Bithoor, Kanpur.
District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi and Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya arrived at the scene upon receiving information about the accident. With the help of local residents, the police extricated the injured from the car and sent them to the district hospital by ambulance. Due to their critical condition, all the injured were referred to the Lucknow Trauma Centre.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Arpit Vijayvargiya stated that preliminary investigations indicate the accident was caused by high speed. Following the collision between the truck and car, a long traffic jam formed on the road. Traffic was restored by removing the vehicles with the help of a crane. Initial investigations revealed that the deceased were residents of Fatehpur town and had booked a car. A vehicle coming from the opposite direction at high speed caused a head-on collision.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Awadhesh Kumar Yadav stated that the injured were initially brought from the CHC to the district hospital, but due to their critical condition, they were all sent to the Lucknow Trauma Center. Local residents have demanded that the administration implement strict speed control measures on the Deva-Fatehpur road to prevent such incidents in the future.
