New Rule: Two-Wheelers to Pay Toll on Highways from July 15!

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): If you ride a two-wheeler on India’s National Highways, here’s important news: starting July 15, toll collections will be extended to two-wheeler riders. Until now, only four-wheeler and larger vehicles paid toll at booths. Previously, toll charges for two-wheelers were estimated and collected in a lump sum at registration — so riders didn’t pay at toll plazas. The central government has now scrapped this practice, mandating direct toll payments at booths by two-wheeler riders.

Separately, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also announced a new FASTag-based annual toll pass, launching August 15. Priced at ₹3,000, the pass allows 200 toll-crossings and will be valid only at NHAI and national highway toll plazas, excluding state highway booths.
