Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police have foiled a major infiltration attempt in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces killed a Pakistani terrorist in a joint operation in the Buchar area near the Line of Control as part of 'Operation DIGGI-2'.

According to the army, the terrorist was attempting to infiltrate the Indian border. Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police received specific intelligence regarding an infiltration plot in the Buchar, Uri sector. Based on this information, the army and police launched a joint operation on the night of March 14-15.

During the operation, security forces observed the movement of a suspicious individual in a densely forested area. Alert troops cordoned off the area and warned the terrorist to surrender. In response, the terrorist opened fire. Security forces killed him in retaliatory action.

Following the encounter, a large quantity of weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorist. The recovered items included an AK rifle, a pistol, and ammunition. Security forces believe the terrorist was attempting to infiltrate as part of a major attack.

According to the army, the search operation is still ongoing in the area. Security forces suspect that other terrorists may be hiding in the area, so the entire area is being thoroughly searched.
