New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): India has reacted sharply to the repeated claims of US President Donald Trump to enforce a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, without naming Trump, said in clear and strong words that no power in the world can dictate to India how to handle its affairs.

This comment of Vice President Dhankhar has come at a time when the opposition is continuously demanding clarification from the government on the claims of US President Trump.

Addressing trainees of the Indian Defence Estates Service, the Vice President said, "Don't be guided by external narratives. In this country, in a sovereign nation, all decisions are taken by its leadership." He stressed that India knows how to handle its own affairs. Dhankhar said, "India works in cooperation, has mutual respect and diplomatic dialogue with other countries. But ultimately we are sovereign and we take our own decisions."

The Vice President made an interesting comment on this issue using cricket terminology. He said, “Is there a need to argue over who said what? The one who scores good runs on a cricket pitch always leaves the bad balls. Those balls are tempting, but no one tries to hit a shot on them. And for those who try, the wicketkeeper and the gully fielder are ready.”

He clearly indicated that it is better to ignore such external claims and there is no need to react to them. He said that people should not be influenced by any narrative and should trust India's leadership.
