New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on Sunday to review the situation in key sectors such as petroleum crude oil gas power and fertilizers amid the ongoing crisis in West Asia. The focus was on ensuring uninterrupted supply stable logistics and smooth distribution across the country to avoid any disruption to essential services.
Officials briefed the Prime Minister on current fuel availability and measures being taken to strengthen India’s energy security. The government is closely monitoring global developments and taking proactive steps to protect consumers and industries from volatility in international markets. Efforts are underway to maintain adequate reserves and reinforce supply chains during rising geopolitical uncertainty.
Concerns were also discussed regarding possible disruption of key sea routes like the Strait of Hormuz which handles a major share of global energy trade. A day earlier Modi held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressing the need for peace and secure sea lanes. To reduce dependence on the Gulf India has diversified oil imports increasing supplies from the United States Russia and African nations like Nigeria.
The government has also stepped up efforts to manage LPG availability including sourcing supplies from the United States. Officials said there is no disruption at the consumer level and supply remains stable despite rising demand and global uncertainty.
