Whistle before the rush: Railways’ new plan to prevent trackside accidents

Patna (The Uttam Hindu): The Railway Board has taken a significant and strict step to ensure passenger safety. Now, at small and medium-sized stations across the country, where superfast and express trains pass through at high speed without stopping, passengers will be alerted in advance. To this end, the Board has issued instructions to all zonal railways to make pre-recorded announcements mandatory.
The Railway Board has clarified that high-speed trains often pose a risk of accidents, so it is crucial to alert passengers in a timely manner. The announcement, as decided by the Board, will be in both Hindi and English and will be implemented uniformly across the country.
These announcements will urge passengers not to cross railway tracks, to maintain a safe distance from the platform edge, and to use foot overbridges (FOBs) to cross from one platform to another. The Signal and Telecommunications Department will provide technical support for this.
