Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has passed away in a tragic plane accident. He died while traveling to Baramati in his private aircraft. Due to a technical fault, the plane made a crash landing and soon caught fire. Ajit Pawar and others on board lost their lives in the incident. The news has plunged Maharashtra and national political circles into deep mourning.

Family left behind, grief falls on wife and sons

Ajit Pawar is survived by his wife Sunetra Pawar and his two sons, Parth Pawar and Jay Pawar. He shared a close bond with his family and was often seen with them at public events. Sunetra Pawar frequently accompanied him during election campaigns and roadshows. His elder son Parth Pawar is active in politics, while his younger son Jay Pawar was considered his closest aide. Jay Pawar is married to Rutuja Patil, daughter of a well-known businessman. Although Ajit Pawar kept his personal life away from the spotlight, his commitment to his family was widely known.

Learned politics under the guidance of uncle Sharad Pawar

Ajit Pawar belonged to one of Maharashtra’s most influential political families. His elder brother Srinivas Pawar is a successful businessman, and they shared a strong relationship. His sister Vijaya Patil has been active in social work. Ajit Pawar’s political mentor was his uncle and NCP founder Sharad Pawar, whose guidance and experience played a key role in shaping him as a leader. He also shared close family ties with his cousin Supriya Sule.

Journey from studio roots to cooperative sector and ministries

Ajit Pawar’s life reflected struggle and determination. He was born on July 22, 1959, in Deolali Pravara village of Ahmednagar district. His father, Anantrao Pawar, worked at Mumbai’s famous Rajkamal Studio. After his father’s untimely death, Ajit Pawar had to shoulder family responsibilities and discontinue his studies. In 1982, he entered public life as a board member of a cooperative sugar factory. From there, his political journey steadily grew. Through a disciplined, practical, and strategic approach, he carved out a strong and distinct identity in Maharashtra politics. His passing is being seen as an irreparable loss to Indian politics.
