Mumbai (Uttam Hindu News): Mumbai Police, which is already on high alert due to the festive season and Ganesh Visarjan, was troubled by another bomb threat on Sunday. There was a stir after a bomb threat was received to blow up the city's prestigious Nair Hospital, after which the police and the bomb squad had to carry out an intensive search operation for several hours. After investigation, this threat also turned out to be false. The worrying thing is that for some time now, Mumbai is being continuously targeted with such false threats.

According to police officials, this incident happened late Saturday night. At around 11 pm, the dean of Nair Hospital received an email in which it was written that there was a bomb in the hospital premises and it should be blown up. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, teams of local police and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) immediately reached the spot. The teams searched every nook and corner of the hospital, but even after hours of hard work, no suspicious object was found, after which the threat was declared a rumour.

The incident comes just two days after another major threat was received in a phone call claiming to attack Mumbai with 34 “human bombs” and 400 kg of RDX. That threat was also found to be false upon investigation. There has been a spate of false threats in Mumbai in recent months:

July: Threat to blow up Terminal-2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

August: Threat to ISKCON temple in Girgaon through email.

Last week: Arrest of a man who threatened to blow up Kalwa railway station in Thane.

At present, in the Nair Hospital case, the police have registered a case against an unknown person and have started searching for the sender of the email.
