Women's Health in Focus: PM Modi Announces Free Services for a Month

Dhar (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched an ambitious national campaign dedicated to women's health, "Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar," from the historic town of Dhar in Madhya Pradesh. Under this campaign, more than one lakh free health camps will be organized across the country from September 17th to October 16th. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the 8th National Nutrition Month.
Addressing a large public gathering in Dhar, Prime Minister Modi said, "This program may be starting in Dhar, but it is for the mothers and sisters of the entire country. Our women power is the mainstay of the nation's progress. If the mother is healthy, the entire family is healthy."
The Prime Minister made an emotional appeal to the women of the country to take advantage of these camps. He said, "There are many diseases that come silently and then become serious. I have come today to ask something from my mothers and sisters across the country, who have always given me the protective shield of their blessings. I urge you to go to these camps without hesitation and get yourself tested. As a son and a brother, this is the least I can ask of you."
PM Modi assured that these camps will cost no money. He said, "Testing will be free, and so will the medicine. Your good health is no more valuable to the government treasury." More than 100,000 camps will be held across the country at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, community health centers (CHCs), and district hospitals. These camps will provide free testing for non-communicable diseases like blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, anemia, and sickle cell disease.
In collaboration with medical colleges and private hospitals, a range of specialized services, including gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, dermatology, and psychiatry, will be provided. The campaign will also raise awareness on topics such as nutrition, vaccinations, and menstrual hygiene.
