Gorakhpur (The Uttam Hindu): Indian Railways has decided to commence work on the Sultanganj-Katoria rail line in Bihar. This will facilitate train travel for Shiva devotees from across the country including Bhagalpur and Deoghar. The project has a total length of 74.8 kilometers and runs through Asarganj, Tarapur, and Belhar. This proposed rail section includes stops at Sultanganj and Katoria, as well as Asarganj, Tarapur, Belhar, Srinagar and Suyabathan. Katoria will become a junction station; currently, Katoria station is located on the Banka-Jasidih rail line. Once completed, the project will facilitate the travel of millions of devotees carrying water to Deoghar each year. According to the latest estimates, the entire project will cost approximately Rs 1261 crore. Currently, the distance from Sultanganj to Deoghar via Bhagalpur, Banka, Katoria is approximately 160 km, which will reduce to approximately 101 km after the construction of the new line, which will further improve the connectivity between Sultanganj and Deoghar.
