Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at four locations in Srinagar as part of an investigation into an alleged terror funding case. The searches were carried out by the agency's Srinagar Zonal Office in connection with a case involving Umar Adil Dar and his associates.

According to the investigation, Dar allegedly worked as an overground worker for the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit and was involved in activities linked to the organisation. He was reportedly apprehended earlier along with associates while carrying a large amount of cash and literature related to the banned group. The agency also stated that he had previously spent around four years in jail over alleged separatist and anti-India activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

The latest searches aim to trace suspected proceeds of crime, identify financial networks and funding channels, examine alleged links with handlers based across the border and collect further evidence. In a separate operation on November 2, the ED searched seven locations in Delhi and Kolkata over alleged illegal overseas remittances disguised as software imports. The agency seized cash and foreign currency worth ₹47 lakh and estimated the suspected proceeds of crime in that case at around ₹1,500 crore.
