5 'Healthy' foods that areactually harmful: Beware of these diet traps
Some popular 'healthy' foods like fruit juice, instant oats, brown bread, flavored curd, and sugar-free products can be harmful if consumed long-term, causing illnesses due to added sugars, refined flour and artificial ingredients

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Today's lifestyle is such that it is difficult to prepare a fresh and balanced diet for oneself, and this is the reason why people have become more dependent on outside food than home-cooked food. Many food products are sold in the market claiming to be healthy, in which it is claimed that they do not contain artificial flavors and sugar, but this is just our misconception. It is not necessary that the so-called healthy food available in the market is good for health. Today we will learn about those 'healthy' foods, which are harming our health.
Fruit juice is at number one. Here we are talking about both canned and fruit juices available at the store. Canned juices are sold as healthy, but they also contain color and sugar. On the other hand, juices available at the store do not contain fiber. Instant oats are at number two. Instant oats are also highly processed, containing both sugar and color. They are also rich in flavor. Try to consume steel-cut oats as they are full of nutrition.
Brown bread is at number three. Brown bread is sold in the market as flour or multigrain, but this is a lie. Very little flour is used in it and most of it is made from refined flour. In such a situation, avoid consuming any kind of brown bread. Flavored curd or lassi is at number four. Packed flavored curd or lassi is easily available in the market, which we drink without any hesitation because it is lassi after all! But many types of flavors and chemicals are added to flavored curd or lassi and it also contains high amount of sugar.
Sugar-free products are at number five. Nowadays, everyone wants to avoid sugar, but they can't resist sweets and eat anything in the name of sugar-free foods. However, there's no such thing as sugar-free. Our bodies treat natural jaggery and sugar just like sugar, while packaged products use refined sugar, which can cause illness if consumed for a long time.
