New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) - Pradosh Vrat is observed on the thirteenth day of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) and Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of every month. On this day, special prayers are offered to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Religious belief holds that anointing the Shivalinga on this day pleases Lord Shiva and alleviates life's difficulties.

Materials to be offered to Shivalinga

Dhatura and Bhang: Offering Dhatura and Bhang to the Shivalinga on the day of Pradosh Vrat is considered auspicious. This helps complete undone tasks and brings Lord Shiva's blessings.

Milk and Ganga water: Anointing Shivling with milk and Ganga water gives mental peace and the full benefit of the puja is obtained.

Akshat (rice): Offer Akshat to alleviate financial difficulties. Chanting Shiva mantras during this time is beneficial.

Sandalwood: Applying sandalwood on Shivling increases respect in the society and Shiva's blessings remain.

Shami Leaves: If you are suffering from Shani Dosha, offering Shami leaves to the Shivalinga is considered auspicious. This helps relieve Shani Dosha.
