Security Heightened at Patna Airport After Bomb Threat Email, Probe Underway

Patna(The Uttam Hindu): Panic gripped Patna’s Jayprakash Narayan International Airport on Friday night after a bomb threat email was received on the official ID of the airport director. Security was immediately heightened, and emergency protocols were activated. However, authorities later confirmed the threat was a hoax.
According to officials, the email was received around 9 PM, prompting an emergency meeting of the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC). After intensive evaluation, the threat was classified as “non-specific”, ruling it a false alarm.
Patna Central SP Diksha confirmed that while the threat turned out to be fake, security at the airport has been tightened as a precaution. A case has been registered, and cyber experts are working to trace the IP address of the email sender. This incident comes amid a spike in hoax bomb threats at major airports across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune, in recent weeks. Security agencies are now viewing the pattern with seriousness, aiming to crack down on those behind these fear-spreading tactics.
