Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): To elevate Punjab’s tourism and hospitality sector to new heights, the state government has taken a bold and visionary step. This initiative will not only boost tourism but also ensure better facilities for the people of Punjab while strengthening the state’s economy. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) organized a historic Investors’ Conference in Chandigarh. The objective was to attract investments through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and showcase Punjab's tourism potential on a global platform. This move reflects the government’s deep commitment to blending Punjab’s glorious heritage with modern development to build a new and progressive Punjab.

During this significant meeting, the government presented six ambitious projects before leading investors, developers, and consultants from across the country—projects that will open new avenues for tourism in every corner of Punjab.

In the religious and historic lanes of Amritsar, an Urban Ropeway Project will soon be launched. This project will not only make commuting easier but also offer breathtaking views of the city. Heritage sites such as the Aam Khas Bagh in Sirhind and the grand Durbar Hall in Kapurthala will be restored and transformed into luxury heritage hotels. Additionally, a Pinkasia Tourist Complex will be developed at Aam Khas Bagh in Ropar to enhance tourist amenities. To promote business tourism, state-of-the-art Convention-cum-Exhibition Centres will be established in Mohali and Ludhiana—industrial hubs that will further strengthen Punjab’s position as North India’s commercial and conference destination.

The primary objective of this meeting was to make these projects more investor-friendly. Officials from PIDB, the Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs, and the Department of Housing & Urban Development engaged in in-depth discussions with investors. They discussed project feasibility, timelines, legal clearances, and the overall development framework. The government assured investors that the competitive bidding process and revenue-sharing model under the PPP framework would remain completely transparent. Investors were encouraged to share their feedback openly so that project conditions could be made more reliable, practical, and investment-friendly. This initiative clearly shows that the government is committed to establishing meaningful dialogue and long-term cooperation with the private sector.

Transparent and Supportive Environment for Investors

The state government reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent and investor-friendly environment for the development of world-class tourism and hospitality infrastructure. It emphasized that public-private partnerships are essential to creating quality experiences for tourists visiting Punjab and to promoting sustainable development in the tourism sector. This initiative highlights the Punjab government’s vision of a prosperous, transparent, and progressive state—one that welcomes investment and accelerates development. Punjab is now rapidly establishing itself on the map as a major centre for tourism and growth. (Advertorial)
