₹1.25 crore heist on Lohri night: Thieves break into jeweller, make off with gold, cash

Hoshiarpur( The Uttam Hindu): A brazen theft rocked Joy Jewellers on Talwara Road in Mukerian, Hoshiarpur, on Lohri night, with thieves making off with gold and silver jewelry and cash worth approximately ₹1.25 crore. The incident, captured on CCTV, has sparked outrage, with the victim shopkeeper and local MLA Jangi Lal Mahajan demanding swift action against the perpetrators.
Anuj Mahajan, the shopkeeper, recounted that he closed his shop on Lohri evening and received a tip-off about suspicious activity later that night. Upon investigation, he found the shop's shutter broken and valuables missing.
MLA Jangi Lal Mahajan condemned the incident, terming it a robbery, and urged police to apprehend the culprits. SHO Daljit Singh has launched a probe, examining multiple angles. The incident has left the local community on edge, demanding justice for the victim
