Ludhiana(The Uttam Hindu): In a major setback for the Congress in the Ludhiana West by-election, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) got stronger and is continuously gaining more momentum on the ground. On Sunday, several Congress-affiliated families joined the AAP.

AAP Punjab Working President Amansher Singh Shery Kalsi and Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, along with Lok Sabha in-charge Sharanpal Makkar, party leader Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia, Jatinder Khangura, and other local leaders, formally welcomed the families into the AAP.

Prominent names among those who left Congress to join AAP include Balraj Singh, Sahil, Dinesh Kumar, Ramkumar, Rajendra Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Kulwant Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Nachhattar Singh, Jagdish Singh, Jagraj Singh, Nirmal Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Jagmohan Singh, Ranvir Singh, Palwinder Singh, Chamkaur Singh, Jagmohan Singh Mona, Harpreet Singh, Nayab Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Harpinder Singh, Harjinder Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Rinku, Mohan Singh, Raghunath, Ravinder Sahni, Dharmpal, Shekhar, Balwinder Singh, and Mahindar Pal.

Addressing the media on this occasion, Shery Kalsi said that Aam Aadmi Party is a party of the common people, while Congress is full of dynastic politicians, internal strife, and factionalism. He said that ordinary people have no place in Congress. Congress leaders are constantly pulling each other down in their race for power and are busy fighting among themselves.

He added that the Aam Aadmi Party provides opportunities for individuals from ordinary households to become legislators and ministers. From Delhi to Punjab, most of AAP’s ministers and legislators have risen from humble backgrounds to positions of power, something unimaginable in traditional parties.

Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian welcomed the new members and said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the AAP government is doing unprecedented work for the development of Punjab. He mentioned that inspired by these efforts, people are leaving traditional parties and joining AAP in large numbers.

He further highlighted that initiatives like free electricity, free education, and healthcare provided by the AAP government have brought immense relief to the common people. He said that the public feels that this government is genuinely working for their welfare.
