AAP MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Suspended for 5 Years Over Drug Campaign Obstruction

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Aam Aadmi Party has suspended Amritsar North MLA and former IPS officer Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh from the party for a period of five years. The party’s Political Affairs Committee took this strict action citing his alleged anti-party activities and interference in the Punjab government’s ongoing campaign against drugs.
Kunwar Vijay Pratap recently came under fire after questioning the vigilance action and arrest of senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia. He publicly shared a video showing an argument between the vigilance team and Majithia's wife, terming the government’s action as unjust. He further claimed that during Majithia's time in jail, the Punjab government neither initiated any inquiry nor opposed his bail, but the sudden action now raises serious concerns.
AAP leadership viewed these remarks as contradictory to the party’s stance and its commitment to a drug-free Punjab, prompting his suspension.
