Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Aam Aadmi Party National Media Incharge Anurag Dhanda on Friday strongly criticized the Haryana government over the death of a young national-level player in Rohtak due to the collapse of a basketball pole, saying that this was not a normal accident but the result of administrative negligence and the BJP government's indifference. Stadiums across Haryana are dilapidated with broken poles and overgrown grass in some areas. Despite such dire conditions, the BJP government remained silent, allowing the athletes to lose their lives. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann arrived in Rohtak to pay tribute to the athlete and share the family's grief. Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was busy promoting the event. The entire state is grieving over the death of the athletes, but the government's priorities lie elsewhere. This is Haryana's greatest misfortune.

Anurag Dhanda said that the recent deaths of two young athletes in Haryana prove the dire state of sports stadiums in the state. Rusted poles, crumbling tracks, broken roofs and even lack of water supply reveal the government's priorities. It was already clear that a major accident would occur, but the administration turned a blind eye and no one took the risk seriously. If the system had been more vigilant, the lives of both children would have been saved.

Anurag Dhanda responded to Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini questioning Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's visit to Rohtak. He said, CM Bhagwant Mann had come to Rohtak to console the grieving families of the players who died and to strengthen the demand for justice. This is a sign of sensitivity. The Chief Minister of Haryana did not even go there. On one hand, the Chief Minister of the neighboring state was there to share the pain on the other hand, the state government is silent and absent.

He said that it is extremely unfortunate that sports talent in Haryana are facing threats instead of facilities. The accident has not only destroyed the infrastructure but also the trust and the future of the players. Today, there is a need for accountability and the accountability lies first with the government, which is maintaining silence instead of caring for the lives of the players and is busy with promotions.
