Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State General Secretary Baltej Pannu cornered the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the contradictory statements by its leaders regarding the ₹1600 crore relief package announced by the central government for flood-affected people. Pannu clarified that not even a single rupee from the amount announced by the Prime Minister reached Punjab so far.

Baltej Pannu said that various BJP leaders are spreading lies regarding the central fund meant for flood relief. Referring to the statements of BJP leaders, he said that on one hand, Punjab BJP Working President Ashwani Sharma says that ₹1600 crore has already been given to Punjab and the Chief Minister should present the account of it, and if he fails to do so, he is lying. On the other hand, Ravneet Bittu claims that ₹800 crore from the central fund has already arrived. According to Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, ₹480 crore has been given to Punjab and the next installment will be released only after receiving the utilization certificate for this amount.

Pannu stated that the three BJP leaders must now decide among themselves who is lying. He clarified that the truth is that out of the ₹1600 crore announced by the Prime Minister, not even a single rupee has reached the Punjab Government.
